Too Much Phone Time?

                     

With new advances in technology like tablets and bigger smartphones it has become an easier way for children to watch television and play games, than the usual boot up the computer and go to the website. Children in this day are watching more television due to companies and channels on the television networks creating applications for these smart devices. Parents are giving there phones and devices to their kids to keep them busy at restaurants. I was at my local church last week and most of the kids were sporting smartphones and iPods to play games such as stacker, angry birds and highway surfer.

The attention spans of kids now a days are shorter than they were just 5 years ago, kids are getting more bored with the usual games, television shows and phones that companies are changing what they know just to meet the demands of kids today. Growing up tv time was always a privilege and now its a 'necessity' in some families, others everytime a new device comes out they have it. I just learned that even some game consoles are getting in on apps like netflix and hulu and the consoles such as Wii, Xbox, and playstation are the biggest ones. Children have more opportunities to watch movies and television than previous generations, the current generation has been dubbed the 'technology' age because that is all kids these days are concerned about like the latest phone, television, shows, and devices. I would monitor what they watch and how much they spend watching. Television also is not what it used to be it is crude and jokes are not as funny on these new shows. Shows are supposed to be entertaining and educational at the same time.
